Swans represent grace and peace – and they need our protection! Swan Protection Austria, based at Lake Attersee, is passionately committed to the conservation and care of these majestic animals. We follow a holistic approach that combines swan protection with animal welfare, public awareness, and environmental conservation. By preserving the habitats of swans, we make an important contribution to the protection of our natural environment. Our mission is to promote the swan population, preserve their habitat, and enable a sustainable coexistence between humans and animals.
Our main goals:
Protection from Dangers: We work to protect swans from natural predators, human threats, and pollution. By creating safe breeding grounds and collaborating with authorities and partners, we actively advocate for their protection.
Protection and Care of Swans: We are committed to the well-being of swans by caring for injured and sick animals. We support or operate rescue centers for injured or orphaned swans, providing medical care and alternative healing methods.
Habitat Conservation and Nature Protection: The protection and restoration of the swans’ natural habitats are at the heart of our work. We work closely with environmental and nature conservation organizations to create suitable habitats and maintain ecological balance.
Public Awareness and Education: We inform the public about the needs of swans and the correct way to feed them. Through information campaigns, lectures, and workshops, we aim to promote a better understanding of these majestic birds.
Research and Monitoring: We conduct scientific studies on the behavior and health of swans and systematically monitor their populations to respond promptly to any threats.
